New Delhi: Aadhaar-based authentication recorded 229.33 crore transactions in June 2025, registering a 7.8% year-on-year growth compared to June 2024, according to data released by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI). The latest figures reflect the increasing reliance on Aadhaar for service delivery and digital inclusion.
The cumulative number of Aadhaar authentication transactions has now crossed 15,452 crore since its inception, highlighting the expanding role of Aadhaar in India’s digital economy. The steady rise also points to Aadhaar’s utility in facilitating effective welfare distribution and accessing voluntary services.
Face authentication, developed in-house by UIDAI using AI and machine learning, continues to see accelerated adoption. A record 15.87 crore face authentications were logged in June, compared to 4.61 crore in the same month last year. This brings the total face authentication transactions to nearly 175 crore.
UIDAI’s face authentication service works across Android and iOS devices and allows Aadhaar users to verify their identity with a simple face scan. The system has been adopted by over 100 entities, including government ministries, financial institutions, oil companies and telecom providers, for seamless delivery of services.
In addition, over 39.47 crore e-KYC transactions were recorded in June, further cementing Aadhaar’s role in streamlining customer onboarding processes. The e-KYC feature is proving instrumental in enhancing ease of doing business, particularly for the banking and non-banking financial sectors.
