New Delhi: The National Institute for Empowerment of Persons with Visual Disabilities (NIEPVD), Dehradun, has entered into important partnerships with six institutions, including non-governmental organisations, to promote the welfare of Divyangjan. These agreements are part of the institute's ongoing efforts to enhance resources and opportunities for individuals with disabilities.

 

The MoUs were signed with prominent organisations, including Uttarakhand Open University (Haldwani), the National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology (NIELIT) Haridwar, Max Hospital Dehradun, and NGOs such as Pratham (Mumbai), National Association for the Blind (NAB) Delhi, and Torchit Pvt. Ltd. (Ahmedabad). These collaborations aim to boost the capabilities and wellbeing of Divyangjan through access to modern technology, psychological support, and enhanced protection from online fraud, among other areas.

 

Speaking on the occasion, the Secretary of the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities said that these partnerships would have a lasting impact on the lives of Divyangjan, helping them access essential resources and support. The collaborations will focus on key areas such as artificial intelligence, ease of access to technology, the development of modern teaching-learning materials, and technical training for educators in special education.

 

This initiative marks a significant step forward in creating inclusive opportunities and support systems for individuals with disabilities, ensuring they benefit from advances in technology and receive the assistance they need to thrive.
