Raigad, Maharashtra: State Bank of India organised a Mega Jan Suraksha Saturation and Awareness Camp in Khalapur, aiming for 100% coverage of financial inclusion schemes across gram panchayats and urban local bodies in the district. The initiative is part of the three-month nationwide Financial Inclusion campaign launched by the Department of Financial Services.

C. S. Setty, Chairman, SBI, was the chief guest at the event, joined by Arvind Kumar Singh, DMD, SBI, Manju Sharma, Chief General Manager, SBI Mumbai Metro Circle, along with other circle functionaries.

Dedicated facilities for Re-KYC services and account reactivation were made available at the camp, enabling customers, particularly from gram panchayats in Khalapur and adjoining Lonavala talukas, to update their records and remain eligible for Direct Benefit Transfer payments under various government schemes.

On the occasion, C. S. Setty said, “I request our customers for the timely Re-KYC and reactivation of dormant accounts to ensure that they can have seamless access to banking services including government welfare benefits. The bank is also committed to empower customers with financial literacy and digital safety.”

Awareness sessions were also conducted on grievance redressal mechanisms and precautions against digital fraud, helping participants understand how to stay secure while using digital payment platforms.

As part of the day’s programme, sanction letters for MUDRA Loans and support to multiple Self-Help Groups were distributed. Beneficiaries also received settlement amounts under Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Jivan Jyoti Bima Yojana.

Under its CSR activities, SBI distributed bicycles to meritorious girl students of Chilthan High School and supported renovation and painting work at the Marathi Primary School in Shanti Nagar, Khopoli.

The event drew strong participation from local residents, many of whom completed their Re-KYC on-site. Community members and local leaders welcomed SBI’s efforts to bring essential banking services and financial awareness closer to rural and semi-urban households.
