NHAI launches FASTag Annual Pass, 1.4 lakh users sign up on Day One

New Delhi: The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has rolled out the FASTag Annual Pass facility across 1,150 toll plazas on national highways and expressways, effective 15 August 2025. The initiative, aligned with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision to expand digital adoption and improve ease of living, has seen a strong response from highway users.

By 7 pm on the first day, around 1.4 lakh users had purchased and activated the pass, with 1.39 lakh transactions recorded at toll plazas. The Rajmargyatra App also saw heavy engagement, with 20,000–25,000 concurrent users at any given time. Annual pass holders received SMS confirmations of zero toll fee deduction during their journeys.

NHAI has deployed nodal officers at toll plazas to ensure smooth operations for pass holders. To address queries, the 1033 National Highway Helpline has been expanded with over 100 additional executives.

The FASTag Annual Pass offers a seamless and cost-effective alternative to frequent recharges, allowing non-commercial vehicle owners to pay a one-time fee of Rs. 3,000 for a year’s validity or 200 toll plaza crossings. Activation is completed within two hours of payment through the Rajmargyatra App or the NHAI website.

With a 98 percent penetration rate and over 8 crore FASTag users, electronic tolling has become standard across India. The introduction of the annual pass is expected to make travel on highways and expressways more economical and convenient while strengthening the digital toll ecosystem.
