New Delhi: NITI Aayog, in collaboration with the United Nations in India, convened a high-level roundtable to discuss India’s perspectives on the development framework that could shape the global agenda beyond 2030.
The roundtable, titled “Regenerative Development: India’s Civilisational Foundations for a Framework Beyond Sustainability”, brought together representatives from the Government, the United Nations and partner organisations, academia, civil society, philanthropy and the development sector.
The discussions examined the experience of implementing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and considered what a development framework beyond 2030 could look like.
Participants discussed how the concept of regenerative development, informed by India’s civilisational foundations and contemporary development experience, could contribute to the emerging post-2030 global development architecture.
The deliberations covered several areas, including equity and inclusion, resilience, sustainability, approaches that go beyond GDP, localisation and community ownership, financing and means of implementation.
The participants also discussed the design of future goals, targets and indicators, with a focus on developing a framework that can address evolving development priorities while reflecting diverse national experiences.
The discussions will feed into NITI Aayog’s further work on India’s perspectives on the post-2030 development framework. This will include further research, documentation of relevant Indian experiences and continued engagement with stakeholders and the UN system.
The roundtable forms part of ongoing discussions on the future of global development after 2030 and provides a platform for India to contribute its experiences and perspectives to that process.
