PM Modi flags off three new Vande Bharat trains

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off three new Vande Bharat trains on August 31, enhancing connectivity across Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka, according to a press statement from the Railway Ministry.

The newly introduced Vande Bharat Express trains will operate on three key routes: Meerut-Lucknow, Madurai-Bengaluru, and Chennai-Nagercoil. The Meerut-Lucknow route will see a time saving of approximately one hour compared to the current fastest train. The Chennai Egmore-Nagercoil route will reduce travel time by more than two hours, and the Madurai-Bengaluru route will save passengers around one hour and 30 minutes.

Since its introduction on February 15, 2019, under the 'Make in India' initiative, the Vande Bharat Express has symbolised India's commitment to combining speed and comfort in rail travel. The Railway Ministry noted that over 100 Vande Bharat services are now operational, connecting more than 280 districts nationwide and transforming the travel experience for millions.

The indigenously manufactured Vande Bharat trains are equipped with world-class amenities and advanced safety features, including Kavach technology, 360-degree rotating chairs, Divyangjan-friendly toilets, and integrated Braille signages, providing passengers with a luxurious and safe travel experience. /BI
