Anurag Thakur Inaugurates hockey turf ground at BSF campus, Jalandhar

Jalandhar: Union Minister for Information & Broadcasting and Youth Affairs & Sports Anurag Thakur unveiled the magnificent Hockey Turf Ground at the BSF campus in Jalandhar. 

The inauguration ceremony witnessed the esteemed presence of Nitin Agrawal, IPS, Director General of the Border Security Force (BSF), along with other distinguished guests, including prominent sports icons.

The newly constructed hockey stadium stands as a testament to India's commitment to fostering sports infrastructure and development. With the necessary approvals from the Hockey Federation of India, the stadium adheres to international standards, providing a world-class venue for the sport. 

Thakur expressed his delight at the support received from the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, which played a crucial role in providing the financial backing required for this remarkable project.

In his address, the Union Minister highlighted the rich sports legacy of Punjab, a state known for producing exceptional athletes who have significantly contributed to India's sporting heritage. 

He also lauded the Border Security Force for its commitment to promoting sports and nurturing talent. The minister emphasized the government's flagship program, Khelo India, and its continued efforts to encourage and support sporting excellence throughout the nation.

Recognizing the significance of hockey as the national game, Thakur commended the BSF for its exceptional sporting achievements. BSF athletes have proudly received three Padma Shri awards and seventeen Arjuna Awards in various disciplines. Several BSF sportsmen have also represented India in esteemed national and international sporting events.
