Visakhapatnam: Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the nation in marking the 11th International Day of Yoga (IDY) in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh today, joining nearly 5 lakh people for a sunrise yoga session on the beachfront. The mass gathering showcased the Common Yoga Protocol as part of a nationwide celebration that unfolded at more than 3.5 lakh locations across the country.
This year’s International Day of Yoga carries the theme “Yoga for One Earth, One Health”, underlining the link between human well-being and the planet’s health and resonating with India’s age-old vision of “Sarve Santu Niramaya” (May all be free from disease).

To broaden public participation, the 2025 celebrations have featured initiatives like Yoga with Family and Yoga Unplugged for youth on digital platforms such as MyGov and MyBharat.

Meanwhile, Union Minister for Finance and Corporate Affairs Nirmala Sitharaman joined the International Day of Yoga gathering at the Arun Jaitley National Institute of Financial Management (AJNIFM) in Faridabad, Delhi-NCR.
Over 400 participants, including senior officials from the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, gathered to follow the Prime Minister’s address from Visakhapatnam and performed yoga under the guidance of instructors from the Morarji Desai Yoga Institute.
Across the country, millions rolled out their mats, reinforcing yoga’s role in promoting balance and harmony for individuals and communities alike.
