Bureaucrats India: Four years of celebrating governance excellence & positivity

New Delhi: On September 12, Bureaucrats India proudly marks its fourth anniversary. The idea for this initiative emerged during the COVID-19 pandemic, a time when effective governance and public service were more crucial than ever. Conceived to address the growing need for transparency and recognition, the platform has since grown into a prominent source of information on good governance and public administration.

Under the editorial leadership of Dr Navneet Anand, a senior journalist, communication expert, and commentator, Bureaucrats India has established itself as a trusted resource on governance, public sector enterprises, corporates, and more. Dr Anand’s expertise has been crucial in guiding the platform to deliver well-researched and insightful content on excellence in governance, public sector enterprises, corporates, technology governance, and public affairs. His leadership has ensured that the platform consistently highlights the significant contributions of public servants.

Since its launch in September 2020, Bureaucrats India has featured over 200 senior officials, including IAS, IPS, IFS, IRS, ICLS, IPoS, and IRAS officers; CMDs & Directors of public sector enterprises; and corporate leaders. Through articles, webinars, and exclusive interviews, the platform has provided a valuable forum for these individuals to share their stories and experiences. Notable figures such as Sri Ramdas Athawale, Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India; Smt Smriti Irani, former Minister of Women and Child Development, Government of India; cricketer Suresh Raina; Dr Tinglong Dai from Johns Hopkins University; Sri Pradeep K Jena, former Chief Secretary of Odisha; DGP Himachal Pradesh, Sri Sanjay Kundu; DGP Assam Sri GP Singh and DGP Karnataka, Sri Praveen Sood (now CBI Director); Dr U Saravanan, CMD, National Fertilizers Ltd have all contributed to the platform’s rich content.

Bureaucrats India has had a significant impact with various initiatives. In January 2023, it published a list of 22 bureaucrats who made a difference in 2022. This list, widely circulated on social media and WhatsApp groups, received extensive coverage from major publications and was praised by notable figures.

Responding to popular demand, Bureaucrats India expanded its recognition efforts in January 2024 by issuing three lists, highlighting exceptional professionals and the best-performing Central Public Sector Enterprises of 2023. These lists were well-received and highlighted the platform’s commitment to acknowledging outstanding contributions to governance.

Recently, in July 2024, Bureaucrats India launched a program called 'Bureaucrats India LEAD (Leaders in Education & Academic Development).' Bureaucrats India LEAD is a series of programs on higher education showcasing India’s unique capabilities in providing world-class education across diverse fields, from engineering and management to biotechnology, humanities, law, medicine, and sciences. In its first two episodes, BI LEAD has featured leaders from prominent institutions like Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT), Vellore, and Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS), Pilani.

Bureaucrats India is committed to celebrating positivity. “In the midst of widespread chaos and negativity that prevails on the digital media, it is critical that we raise the flags of positivity, and celebrate it. Our platform, now widely appreciated, has done it consistently, and will continue to do so,” said Dr Anand.
